other next week when the teams resume their regular-season schedules.
"It's going to be another war," Mountaineers coach Tom Fraher predicted to The Journal News. "I was talking to (Stepinac coach) Tim Philp on the way out and he said to me, 'Another tough one on Tuesday.' And I said 'Same thing.'"
Mount St. Michael (10-0) beat Somers JFK 73-59 behind 31 points from Peter Aguilar and 27 by Clarence White, who made six three-pointers.
"They're loaded in every position; every position was taller than us and faster than us," JFK coach Frank Kelly said.
Stepinac scored a 61-42 victory over Horace Greeley. Conroy Baltimore put up nine points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shot to lead the way.
Frustration showing: Peekskill players scuffled with each other in the locker room following a 70-44 loss to Burke Catholic in the consolation bracket of the Slam Dunk at the Westchester County Center, The Journal News reported.
Coach Lou Panzanaro said the incident was not serious and that no players will be disciplined.
"(It was) frustration from losing. They're not used to it, they don't like it, and I don't want them to like it," he said. "I want them to control their emotions, but I don't want them to accept the losing. And somebody took exception to somebody's criticism, that's all."
It came in the aftermath of Peekskill's 6-for-35 shooting performance in the second half as Burke broke open an 11-point game.
"I have no answer right now. I have no answer. I have no idea about this team," Panzanaro said after his team slipped to 3-4 for the season. "They just don't play with any heart, any intensity, no defense. I just don't know."
Section 5 nail-biter: In a possible preview of the Section 5 large-school final, Rush-Henrietta beat East 65-64 to avenge a trio of losses to the Orientals a year ago.
