Basketball Coaches Association of N.Y.: The BCANY is the organization that selects "Mr. Basketball" and "Miss Basketball each season.
LongIslandBasketball.com: Packed with information from Nassau and Suffolk counties, sometimes to the point of being too overwhelming to allow a hoops junkie to focus. Don't miss the weekly "Sweet Sixteen" team rankings.
LongIslandHoops.org: Touting itself as "Long Island's finest resource for girls basketball," this site does deliver a lot of timely and interesting information.
MetroHoops.com: Lots of write-ups about games and the latest intelligence from the recruiting wars.
NewYorkHoops.com: Scores and schedules from the PSAL, Catholic and private leagues in and around the Big Apple, with weekly team rankings that can include interesting tidbits.
ScoutNYPreps.com: Very heavy on recruiting news, but containing plenty of other information as well. The site is part of the Scout.com network of sports sites, which makes links to other related sites from around the country easily accessible.
NYSBasketball.net: Dedicated largely to the past and upcoming installments of the NYSPHSAA and Federation tounaments, for both boys and girls.
NYC & N.J. High Hoops: An easy-to-use and frequently updated list of links to stories and info about hoops in the metropolitan area.
Section4hoops.com: Covering the Southern Tier.
SectionVBasketball.com: Anyone who's had even brief dealings with Section 5 basketball will tell you that these guys are so good that they could pull off hosting NCAA tournament games on 48 hours notice. The web site reflects their high standards, with scores and seeding points updated daily.
Cross country, track and field
ArmoryTrack.com: Though primarily serving the metropolitan New York City area, ArmoryTrack.com compiles and posts considerable amounts of info on cross country and track from all over New York.
Dyestat.com: A fountain of information for cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. John Dye and crew set up shop at numerous major events across the country each school year, providing same-day coverage including stories, agate and photos.
LeoneTiming.com: This outfit does the automated results for a number of cross country and track meets throughout the year, paricularly in Central New York. It's a nice resource for digging up old agate.
TullyRunners.com: One-stop shopping for a ton of info related to scholastic cross country and track in New York. The speed ratings for cross country make it possible to compare performances and stimulate plenty of discussion in the running community.
Leaderboards: We've been finding season leaderboards on a growing numbers of sites both in New York and nationally. Here are a few links to data-rich sites that are most useful for keeping track of the best:
Football
Freeman Ratings from CalPreps.com: Don't even come here until early October, then don't take the numbers too seriously until late in the season. But watch out in November as this site does power rankings for all of the high school teams in New York (and nationally for that matter). Count on these numbers to create some debate in the Syracuse.com forums.

MaxPreps: Updated scores and statistics for a number of schools and their players as well as schedules and rosters.
NFL.com: That well-known professional Sunday league (and Thursday and Monday for that matter) has a modest site devoted to high school football. Look for NFLHS.com to get more ambitious as time goes on.
Section1recruiting.com: Don't be fooled by the name; there's quite a bit of weekly material during the footall season.
Section4football.com: Specializes in football news, photos and history from the Binghamton - Elmira - Ithaca region of the state.
