Friday, Oct. 9, 2009: No. 7 Baldwinsville rolls to sixth victory
Leading off today: Senior tailback Malik Burks scored four touchdowns yesterday to lead Baldwinsville, ranked No. 7 in Class AA by the NYSSWA, to a 47-14 football victory over Central Square.

Burks rushed 21 times for 182 yards, including an 80-yard TD scamper. Bees (6-0) quarterback Niko Manning was 3-for-6 for 137 yards and two touchdowns to receiver Jed Clouston.

One to go: Monroe-Woodbury's Pat D'Aliso can become the winningest football coach at a Section 9 school tonight when the top-ranked Crusaders take on Middletown in Class AA action.

D'Alisohas has 194 victories, matching former Port Jervis and Warwick coach Joe Viglione, who retired in 1991. D'Aliso has 172 wins at Monroe-Woodbury and 22 at Pulaski, where he coached from 1977-81.

D'Aliso became Monroe-Woodbury's head coach in 1988. His teams have one New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships and four straight trips to the finals. He's widely credited for introducing the spread offense to Section 9 in 2005, which has inspired numerous other schools to install similar attacks.

"Never think you know everything, and always believe you can learn more," D'Aliso told The Times Herald-Record. "We've always tried to be on the cutting edge of everything. We got the spread from Urban Meyer (at Florida). We said we we're either going to be geniuses or (idiots). It happened to work out."

Monroe-Woodbury has won 46 straight games against

    Section 9 opponents.

Kingston short-handed: Kingston football coach Jeramie Collins will be without at least four injured players and an unspecified number of players also are unavailable against Minisink Valley tonight for discipinary reasons, The Daily Freeman reported.

Kingston is coming off an overtime victory against Pine Bush in which quarterback Jimmy DeCicco re-injured his left knee late in regulation. Left-hander Brian Murphy will start at quarterback for the second straight week.

Collins said the disciplinary action stems from homecoming activities.
