Leading off today: The Hartwick College men's basketball program has landed one of the most prolific scorers in state history as Joey Lufkin told
The Post-Star he will continue his career there next season.
Lufkin, a 5-foot-9 point guard, who helped Argyle to a 24-0 record this winter and its first New York State Public High School Athletic Association boys basketball championship, holds school records for points in a game (54), season and career (2,146). He stands 44th on the state's all-time career scoring list.
Hartwick is a Division III school in the Empire 8 Athletic Conference.
“I like coach Todd McGuinness very much,” Lufkin, the New York State Sportswriters Association Class D player of the year, told the newspaper. “I had a chance to play Division II at a couple schools, but I wanted to stay close by and I wanted to play as much as I could right away.”
